Manager, Environmental Health & Safety - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, Ohio

BWXT Is seeking a Manager, Environmental Health & Safety with a CSP certification to plan and administer all phases of environmental, health, and safety activities at a manufacturing location in partnership with the site leadership team. This individual will manages a team of EH&S Professionals across four shifts. Primary areas of responsibility include environmental compliance, initiative-taking attention, and continuous improvement in safety performance along with general instruction in safety awareness for all employees.

Job Duties:

  • Defines and administers division safety and Human Performance Improvement program to meet division and corporate safety goals.

  • Monitors safety performance and modifies safety program to respond to safety concerns.

  • Develops, implements, and maintain programs, policies and practices for monitoring and preventing physical, chemical, and biological hazards at facilities.

  • Keeps up to date with OSHA requirements and makes recommendations which will keep the division's safety program up to date.

  • Directs and performs safety audits to judge and maintain compliance with the division's safety program.

  • Works actively with all department/section heads to implement continuous improvement safety procedures throughout the manufacturing facility.

  • Administers location Environmental and Safety procedures and policies to all employees, including training.

  • Coordinates case management activities with Workers' Compensation and the on-site Health Center.

  • Defines and provides training programs for division personnel which enhances the employee's ability to work safely

    Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related degree

  • 8 years experience in a safety leadership and management role in a manufacturing organization

  • CSP Certification Required

  • Must have a solid understanding of Federal and State OSHA, EPA laws and regulations

  • Understanding of Safety Programs such as LOTO, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Machine Guarding

  • OSHA 30 and OSHA 501 preferred

  • Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers or employees and ability to author reports and business correspondence.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Must be a US Citizen

Position requires U.S. Citizenship (with no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications.
