Opportunity:

Virtual Service Operations is searching for highly motivated and career-driven individuals to join our growing team as a Jr. Linux System Administrator. In this role, you would be a part of our growing relationship with one of our great clients and performing administration and maintenance activities on over 8,000 Linux servers!

Responsibilities:

  • Support O&M (operations and maintenance) activities.

  • Monitoring the Client ServiceNow ticketing system and responding to system alerts and emails according to established procedures and guidelines.

  • Working on assigned Change Requests/Incident tickets and continuously updating status, activities, and progress in ServiceNow

  • Investigate and respond to alerts generated by the various monitoring systems in use at the Client.

  • Perform hardware repair procedures and activities.

  • Create and manage user accounts and permissions

  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability

  • Perform regular backups

  • Update and patch system software and applications

  • Implement new tools and technologies. Troubleshoot hardware, Operating System, configuration (services, file systems, etc.), and software problems with Rocky Linux servers.

  • Perform server builds, configurations, and scheduled maintenance activities.

  • Perform detailed analysis of incidents - utilize log management tools and performance data to author and document status.

  • Perform cyber-security remediation and server hardening as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RHCE Certification

  • Knowledge of Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) and/or VMware.

  • Cisco UCS

  • Ansible

  • Foreman, Katello

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience

  • Must be willing to undergo a government Public Trust (SF-85) background investigation.

  • Must be willing to work remotely
