Summary About the Position: This position is located within the Civilian Human Recourses Agency South Central Region Classification Consolidated Services Division. This position is remote and duty locations will be negotiated at the time of selection. Salary posted is for Rest of United States (RUS) locality and will be adjusted to the locality of the selectee's physical duty location. Responsibilities Consult with management in the development of civilian position descriptions for General Schedule, Federal Wage System, Acquisition Demonstration, and other pay systems. Mentor other classification specialists on the application of Office of Personnel Management classification standards, interpretation of classification appeals, and position management. Conduct classification of complex position descriptions in support of major re-organization efforts, contentious actions, and other initiatives. Provide tactful advice, verbally and in writing, to managers who have delegated classification authority. Perform analytical methods and procedures in support of formal Classification Advisories. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: applying a wide range of federal civilian human resources concepts, practices, laws, regulations, policies, precedents on classification and position management that included: conducting research in the evaluation and classification of positions; using classification standards/guides to secure sound classification on positions; and advising on highly difficult and controversial position classification, position management, and Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) cases and issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Analysis and Research Communications Position Classification Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
