Position Overview: 

As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club Accounting Team, you will be leading our Accounts Payable team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in operations, processing and monitoring outgoing payments, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. This role demands leadership, analytical insight, and a proactive approach to process improvement. You will be managing AP Specialists and will be responsible for a high volume of transactions on a consistent basis.

Essential Functions: 

  • Lead, develop, and motivate a team of AP Specialists, fostering a culture that drives operational efficiency and accuracy in expense and payment processing.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report weekly on AP activity, summarize key insights to identify trends

  • Drive process improvement by recommending and implementing solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in payment workflows.

  • Identify opportunities to automate or redesign processes to support broader Freedom Accounting initiatives, leveraging technology when possible

  • Assist with completing the Accounts Payable tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records in Oracle, ensuring timely updates and oversight of all AP transactions 

  • Managing high volume transactions and requests daily

  • Overseeing vendor and banking communications, resolving payment discrepancies, and maintaining strong professional relationships.

  • Managing the AP approval workflow, enforcing proper controls to safeguard company assets.

  • Support month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate expense reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Enforce and implement internal controls to protect company assets and maintain audit compliance.

  • Develop and mentor staff, providing ongoing training, performance reviews, and career development opportunities to foster team success.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in Accounts Payable, with a strong understanding of payment processes and financial controls.

  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to guide, mentor, and support a team effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

  • Experience working with Oracle ERP or similar accounting software, demonstrating the ability to manage high-volume transactions efficiently. Must be highly organized, analytical, detail oriented, and a self-starter 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, and multi-tasking skills 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed with ability to meet established deadlines 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Must have a team player attitude 

  • Strong customer service orientation 

Working Conditions: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer  

The anticipated pay range for this position is $61,400 to $104,300, annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.  

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
