Position Summary

We are seeking a Field Engineer like you to join our team!

The Field Engineer provides pre-sales technical expertise to the sales team and customers during the sales process; installs and demonstrates the organization's products at customer sites; collaborates with sales teams to develop and recommend products and services to meet customers' requirements; and maintains up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of the organization's and competitors' products and/or services. This position works under limited supervision; understands and applies engineering principles and practices; and determines courses of action based on guidelines, and modifies processes and methods as required. This position plans own work, assesses own progress, and adjusts efforts to meet goals; is accountable for meeting own targets which impact the immediate work area; may help coordinate the work of junior members of the team; conveys information to occasionally divergent audiences that may require some persuasion; requires objective review of difficult work problems obtaining cooperation or approval; and understands and communicates complex information.

The ideal candidate will be located in New York.

Pay Range: $66,000.00 - $110,000.00

Responsibilities

Market Quality

  • Monitor product performance in the field – search, identify and pre-qualify evaluation users. Initiate, track, report and follow up on field evaluations of prototype, in-line, and competitors' commercial products. Determine and confirm product performance in the field for product development purposes. Investigate and initiate new product requests based on field evaluation and market awareness.

  • Inspect tires for warranty consideration – conduct on-site warranty adjustments at dealer locations. Direct interface with dealer personnel on warranty items. Create and issue return tire reports.

  • Participate in surveys – coordinate and participate in surveys for information on current product performance and usage in the field. Coordinate and collect tires for regional tire surveys.

  • Deploy mobility solutions/Technology to better understand effect on variation in field validation testing

Service Quality

  • Attend and assist at Texas Proving Ground events, regional drive and learn events, and new tire product launches.

  • Complete special projects as directed from Region Manager, Nashville Sales Engineering, Americas Technical Center.

  • Provide technical expertise to fleets, dealers, and sales force – respond to fleets, dealers and sales force technical assistance and training requests. Provide Sales Department with evaluation results of current products vs. competition. Participate in and present technical presentations to outside professional organizations at meetings and trade shows.

  • Grasp customer's operating condition with quantitative data, to maximize product value by tire centric service proposition, for each customer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

  • At least 2 years of work experience in tire or automotive industry

  • Customer service experience
