Singapore American School Elementary School Recess Ambassador in United States

As a Recess Ambassador, your primary role is to contribute to the creation of a safe, positive, and enjoyable recess environment for students. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment, fostering appropriate student engagement, and encouraging positive social interactions during playtime.

We are currently seeking high energy individuals to manage circuit stations in the playground and run the activities in that station. Demonstration and participation in the station activities may be required.

Responsibilities:

Support for Recess

  • Ensure the recess environment is well-organized, clean, and adequately stocked with equipment to facilitate various activities.

  • Monitor the condition of recess equipment and promptly report any items requiring repair or replacement.

  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities provided by SAS to enhance your skills and knowledge.

  • Collaborate effectively within a team to ensure a cohesive and efficient recess experience.

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned or requested to support the overall school environment.

    Student Care

  • Supervise and circulate around recess zones.

  • Actively engaging with students to help resolve minor problems and conflicts in line with SAS rules and values.

  • Promptly inform instructional assistants of any serious behavioral issues that may arise during recess.

  • Assist students in understanding game rules and demonstrate activities to promote positive play experiences.

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with students and instructional assistants.

  • Prioritize the safety of students during recess activities and promptly report any safety concerns to appropriate personnel.

    Qualifications required:

  • GCE 'O' Level Certification with a minimum of 5 'O' levels, including a credit in English or equivalent.

  • Proficiency in both verbal and written English.

  • Adaptability and comfort in diverse work environments, working collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Possess a positive work attitude, taking initiative to create a positive recess environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact confidently with colleagues, teachers, administrators, and students.

  • Preferred experience working with children in an educational setting.

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform outdoor duties for extended periods.

  • Good physical health and mobility to carry out assigned tasks independently.

  • Ability to move freely without assistance and remain mobile for several hours during the shift.
