Advieh Restaurant and Bar at InterContinental Auckland is seeking a passionate and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. Partnering with renowned Chef Gareth Stewart, you will support the creation of innovative dishes that define our restaurant's signature style.

As our Junior Sous Chef, you will play a critical role in supporting the kitchen's daily operations, assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in leading the team to culinary excellence. You will be a hands-on leader, passionate about food quality and consistency, while contributing to menu innovation.

  • Supporting Leadership: Assisting our Culinary Executive Team in managing the kitchen team, overseeing food preparation and ensuring smooth service operations.

  • Culinary Excellence: Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes with precision and flair, maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.

  • Menu Contribution: Collaborating with our Culinary Executive Team to develop and refine menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients and new culinary trends.

  • Quality and Standards: Monitoring food quality and presentation, maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen.

  • Team Development: Training and mentoring junior team members, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.

  • Operational Efficiency: Assisting in inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining cost controls to meet budgetary targets.

  • Compliance: Ensuring all kitchen operations comply with food safety and health regulations.

What we need from you

  • Proven experience as a Junior Sous Chef or in a similar role

  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and practices

  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences

  • A culinary degree or relevant qualification from an accredited institution is highly desirable
