Amazon Construction Program Manager, NACF D&C REI in Virtual Location - Colorado, Colorado

As a Construction Program Manager (CPM) on the North American Customer Fulfillment Design and Construction Retrofits, Expansions and Initiatives Team (NACF D&C REI) you will provide programmatic support to internal Customers, Pre-Construction, and Construction management teams to support expansion and optimization of the NACF logistics infrastructure network. This role will focus on retrofits, expansion and initiative (REI) programs deployment within the existing network which is a change deployed in multiple site across the logistics network . The CPM own's program strategy, proactively identify risks and solve ambiguous problems, streamline processes and foster innovation, escalate as appropriate to ensure on-time delivery of planned projects, and apply process improvement methodologies to drive the vision of the program. Key competencies of this position include managing the lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs, scoping efforts to include analyzing and evaluating different facility scenarios and build-out designs, defining strategic objectives and milestones, compliance for cost and driving execution of concurrent projects in a safe, sustainable, and inclusive manner. This opportunity combines program management construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management. It requires a person who can show proven ability in the planning and design, and project management / control of the enhancement of existing facility buildings.

The role will include upwards of 60% travel to all North America locations.

Key job responsibilities

• Own and manage the lifecycle of new and existing programs/initiatives, successfully delivering concurrent complex projects aligned with business objectives

• Engage the right stakeholders, customers, and partner teams to communicate with and impact critical business initiatives, and craft and deliver cross-functional, scalable solutions

• Develop, implement, and govern Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to stakeholders on program performance, and use this data to drive business decisions

• Help partner and stakeholder teams make trade-offs by considering the impact to the business and customer (e.g., customer experience, quality, efficiency,impact to existing operations, schedule, budget, etc.)

• Proactively identify opportunities to continuously improve program quality, efficiency and operational excellence optimizing current processes and creating new processes for program delivery for retrofit, expansion and initiatives projects

• Creation of construction program execution plans (scope, schedule, cost estimates and contracting) and partnership with procurement stakeholders to ensure vendor coverage for NACF REI program delivery

• Prepare and present project report noting individual project forecast/status/risk reports, and provide clear and concise summaries for projects under your ownership to leadership and management teams.

• Ensure the implementation and management of Amazon’s safety programs and standards with the project team planning phases of assigned programs/projects.

• Comprehensive budget and schedule tracking for compliance throughout the program delivery lifecycle

A day in the life

A day in the life of the NACF D&C REI team may include coordinating with stakeholders, scoping new programs and preparing program execution strategy, tracking progress against business goals and metrics, creating process for retrofit, expansion and initiatives program delivery for the NACF D&C team and managing program initiatives at various stages of their lifecycle. You will represent NACF D&C ensuring adherence to process for the safe, on-time, and in-budget execution of Amazon design and construction projects. Daily tasks may be comprised of coordinating with cross-functional partners on project status and projected changes, ensuring stakeholders are meeting their agreed upon milestones, seeking sustainable, environmentally-friendly solutions throughout the process, scoping programs, reviewing new requests for programs/projects, evaluating current process and/or creating process for successful REI program/project delivery and utilizing Amazon tools to record and manage program progress and other key developments.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

  • 3+ years of Construction, Engineering or related experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $59,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
