The Managing Director will play a lead role in the on-going Client Portfolio Management activities of the firm, with a primary focus on assigned investment strategies. The incumbent will work with assigned Manulife Investment Management investment teams on all aspects of product management, and will support the client facing teams in the effective communication and positioning of our investment strategies with clients, prospects and consultants.

We are looking for someone with:
A proven track record of successfully promoting fixed income strategies to prospects and clients across Asia
Strong technical knowledge of fixed income markets and macro trends. Intellectually curious about global capital markets and ability to find creative ways to connect with existing and prospective clients
Understanding ESG/responsible investing
An understanding of Asia’s competitive landscape and buy-side industry trends for fixed income strategies across various channels. Contacts with key product selection decision makers and financial intermediaries in the region a plus
Strong analytical skills, collaborative attitude, positive mindset, ownership, prioritization and execution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Gravitas and ability to present credibly and resonate with clients across a wide range of client segments and settings, going from one on one meetings with sophisticated institutional investors to large groups with retail advisors or individual investors
Strong marketing and messaging skills in order to maintain a compelling story for MIM’s fixed income franchise and products
Ability to prospect and close new business relationships in partnership with MIM’s retail relationship managers, institutional client advisors. Existing client relationships a plus
A desire to interact directly with internal teams and external clients to influence their product knowledge and support MIM’s sales efforts.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or a related field; CFA and/or MBA preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior CPM, product management, portfolio specialist, investment director or similar role, preferably within an institutional asset management organization
Strong PC skills, including familiarity with key industry related software and databases
Languages: Fluent in English, Cantonese, (Mandarin a plus)
Location base: Hong Kong with regional travel expectations
On the job you will:
Provide insights about Manulife Investment Management (MIM) Fixed Income strategies and capital market developments to existing and prospective clients
Focus on positioning, marketing and servicing for MIM’s Asia Fixed Income platform including a market leading suite of fixed income-oriented and custom strategies
Serve as the key spokesperson for the Asia fixed income team at client meetings and events with the ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of MIM’s investment process, market outlook and investment strategies
Grow and support the fixed income retail, institutional and retirement businesses across the Asia region taking a collaborative and positively spirited approach with MIM’s sales force.
Provide regular updates and training material to internal stakeholders on fixed income market developments and strategies. Serve as a key on the ground fixed income resource to respond to client questions and specific sales prospects.
Work with the marketing and sales administration teams to develop marketing collateral including presentations, RFP/database content, and other relevant materials required to describe and position assigned strategies and teams.
Assist in the answering, editing, and completing requests for proposals and questionnaires (from base template or in response to RFPs) with accuracy and by deadlines.
Interact with compliance and legal teams to review and obtain approvals on all terms of reference relevant to an RFP.
Prepare new business presentations and pull together the necessary materials required to provide solutions and quality service to prospects, clients and consultants.
Conduct on-going research to track key competitors, market trends and threats and incorporate into product positioning and communication to key constituents globally to ensure competitiveness of existing products.
Partner with the product development teams to enhance existing products and or collaborate to position new to launch products
Identify areas for thought leadership to help promote MIM and boost client engagement around fixed income solutions
Help mentor junior team members where necessary. Encourage independent work to enhance their market/asset class strategy knowledge
