Job Summary:

Conducts quality inspections and tests to ensure that all parts and assemblies meet or exceed customer requirements, design specifications and company quality standards, dimensionally, in appearance and in product reliability. Performs other duties, incidental to the job as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Conducts first part, in process, final and visual inspection of parts/assemblies in process to ensure operator accuracy and traceability documentation is complete by monitoring dimensions and visual appearance of components per print, router specifications and quality plans.

Conducts dimensional inspections of complex components verifying conformance to design and print specifications, using equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauge, optical comparator, CMM, and precision hand measuring equipment.

Conducts various quality tests verifying conformance to design and print specifications, using equipment such as calipers, thickness gauge micrometers, height gauge, hand gauges, computer radius gauge, pie tapes, optical comparator, and precision hand measuring equipment.

Visually inspects parts for any defects including but not limited to blemishes, char, voids and cracks.

Conducts incoming receiving inspections as required by the Quality Management System.

Requests corrections of routers and prints, initiates NCR’s and CAR’s.

Participates in problem solving analysis and solutions as requested.

Works with minimal supervision. Able to work in multiple areas of the quality department

Education/Certifications:

HS Diploma/equivalent

Skills and Experience:

5+ years of previous inspection experience

Previous experience using with basic hand tools: calipers, micrometers, OGP, Manual CMM, Gage pins etc. in the inspection of parts desired

Experience operating manual and programable CMM equipment

Previous experience reading blueprints/applying basic shop maths required

Familiar with metrology inspection equipment

Basic mechanical skills and computer skills helpful.

Close visual attention, reasoning, and judgment are required.

Basic understanding of geometric dimension and tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.

Inspection experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment preferred.
