As Project Engineering Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery. Leading a multi-disciplinary design team, you will ensure that we provide high-quality engineering deliverables at all stages of the project.

Working with the project team you will manage project progress, risk, budgets and design parameters, playing a critical role in the successful execution of our major projects and continued growth. As part of project delivery, you will prepare and maintain detailed project execution plans, programmes, cost schedules and risk registers, managing change, risk and budget across work packages, supporting the technical teams to deliver high-quality work. The project will comply with WSP’s and the client’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Ethical standards.

Regular and pro-active client engagement will form a key part of the successful delivery of your projects.

You will support the development of winning proposals, including writing technical content for our bids and providing cost estimates.

The position will allow tremendous scope for development and growth as you will be expected to lead our highest profile projects and support the group’s growth by engaging with clients and help win more work.

THE TEAM

  • The UK Energy Transition team provide services to Clients from inception through development, construction, operation, and decommissioning. An approach that sees us support our clients over the entire lifecycle of a project.

  • Our team’s expertise covers all Energy Transition generation and conversion technologies and includes novel, first of a kind concepts and other low or zero carbon technology. Working together with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, lending agencies, contractors and OEM’s we safely deliver projects whilst meeting and exceeding client expectations.

  • Our teams are strategically placed in Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Guildford and Belgrade to support operations in the UK, Ireland and Europe. We also work internationally with our clients and other Energy sector teams in North America, Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

  • excellent management, delegation, and leadership skills;

  • strong business judgement;

  • significant experience of managing FEED/detailed design projects in the Energy sector, preferably including power generation projects;

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of WSP and client organisations;

  • Working knowledge of relevant international equipment specifications and codes

  • Team player, with the proven ability to mentor junior colleagues;

  • A desire to contribute to the growth and continued success of the Thermal group using your proven skills in project and people management;
