The role of an NEC Project Manager is to provide commercial contractual advice to clients. As an influential management position, we anticipate you will also work alongside clients, in partnership and collaboration, to assist their commercial and contractual decision making.

A typical week would require you to:

  • Control contractual and commercial matters within your delegated responsibilities and within client governance requirements including; controlling time, cost, quality, subcontracts and change.

  • Collaborate with the Supervisor to manage all aspects of project safety and quality.

  • Collaborate with a scheduling/planning professional to manage all aspects of project programme.

  • Collaborate with a commercial professional to manage all aspects of project cost and budget adherence, ensuring validity and value accuracy

  • Provide safety, quality, time and cost expertise as required should it not be viable for separate professionals’ involvement (for example on smaller projects).

  • Use CEMAR or other contractual management software to delivery the Project NEC Contract administration or, if necessary, manage contractual correspondence outside software support drawing on your experience of templates and letter writing.

  • To integrate and upskill a supporting Assistant Project manager to support you as required

  • Ensure robust frequent communication with, and reporting, to the client’s Project and Commercial Manager. Alongside the client facing delivery role you may also have opportunities to assist with Business Development, Capability Development, Coaching and Mentoring and commercial management within WSP.

YOUR TEAM

  • NEC PMs at WSP currently work across major infrastructure such as Highways, Rail and Flood defence, we manage projects across defence, information technology, retail, distribution, energy, aviation petrochemical and numerous other fields. There are opportunities for the right candidate to diversify or to specialise within their chosen career path.

  • The NEC PM role presents opportunities to work with clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, Ministry of Defence, Environment Agency, numerous local authorities, property developers, Contractors (via Design and Build), Johnson Matthey and Amazon to name a few.

  • There are opportunities to progress to dual Chartered status within the following professional organisations; APM, CIArb, ICE, RICS and CICES.

  • With extensive connections into all professional bodies WSP offers you great opportunities to grow your professional networks and in turn you will help WSP to grow and diversify our business into new and exciting areas.

  • Strong NEC3 or NEC4 contract experience, ideally with an ECC Project Manager Accreditation.

  • Experience and track record of managing projects in the UK or overseas

  • Experience in working in team delivery, and are willing extend your knowledge and experience through working in a highly motivated and competent team.

  • Chartership with a recognised professional institution.

  • Excellent communication, numerical, collaboration and presentational skills. Familiarity with contracts management software such as CEMAR, Primavera, Xactium etc..
