Job Description / Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for day to day Information Security risk management for the organization including a focus on detailed technology issues.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Leads a team of junior and senior engineers. Monitors and guides the security team, cultivating a sense of security awareness, and arranging for continuous education.

Conducts independent tests and evaluation of new and existing systems.

Conducts testing to include system security testing, vulnerability scanning, security configuration reviews of desktop/laptop images, writing test plans, test cases/scripts, status reports and test summary reports.

Initiates security response procedures when a problem is detected and methodically creates and updates security standard documentation.

Provides critical input into the selection of security technologies aligning with strategic and tactical objectives.

Creates technical approaches to implementing security control technologies.

Works closely with vendors for outsourced solutions. Reviews vendor solutions and recommendations.

Analyzes information systems utilizing various cybersecurity techniques including intrusion prevention systems, firewalls, SIEM solutions, and vulnerability assessment software to aid in the detection and prevention of cyber-attacks. Identifies and communicates current and emerging security threats.

Designs security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge.

Performs quality checks on all data collected, copies final data deliverables to various media, and documents the procedures used in the collection process.

  • Displays the highest level of critical thinking and analysis in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-departmental problems. Makes prompt, sound decisions when faced with complex and often contradictory alternatives that result in successful outcomes.

  • Operates with considerable latitude. Situations may have little or no precedent requiring original or new concepts or approaches without guidance from others. Reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

  • Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems; cross-departmental considerations are often present.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

Ten years of Information Security and Information Technology experience.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred with specific expertise and certification in Information Technology Security.

Experience with Open Source Security solutions for Firewalls, HIDS, NIDS, and vulnerability assessments.

Information Technology / Information Security certifications such as CCNA, CCNE, CISSP, CISA preferred.

Experience in enterprise project management with a disciplined approach to delivering results consistently.

Experience utilizing analytics and data to develop innovative solutions.

This position may be remote, or hybrid based on location. Eligible candidates residing in the greater Atlanta area will be asked to work two days a week in our Doraville, GA Field Support Center.
