Red Hat Software Engineer - DevOps and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure in Czech Republic
Red Hat’s Performance and Scale Engineering team is seeking a passionate and driven DevOps Engineer to join our small, innovative team focused on developing automation and managing large-scale R&D environments. This role is a unique hybrid of DevOps engineering, cloud cost optimization, and developer experience enhancement across multi-cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, IBM Cloud. You’ll split your time between hands-on development and advanced systems/network administration to support performance testing and validation of Red Hat and partner technologies at scale. A key part of your responsibilities will involve active Python development on open-source infrastructure automation tools such as QUADS (https://quads.dev) and Badfish.
This role also involves a strong focus on Cloud FinOps and Cloud Operations—you will analyze cloud usage patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement automation and best practices to drive efficiency and reduce operational expenses across Red Hat’s hybrid cloud infrastructure.
What you will do
Administer and automate large-scale, dynamic R&D lab infrastructure using Python and open-source tools like QUADS (https://quads.dev/about-quads) and Badfish (https://quads.dev/about-badfish) and contribute to their upstream development.
Develop, maintain, and contribute to automation frameworks for server and network provisioning, improving lab efficiency and scalability.
Monitor and analyze multi-cloud usage (AWS, GCP, Azure, IBM Cloud) using the cloud-governance (https://github.com/redhat-performance/cloud-governance) framework to implement cost-optimization strategies, including rightsizing, resource tagging, and automated cleanup.
Create and maintain tooling to prune unused cloud resources and build dashboards for real-time visibility into usage, spend, and efficiency metrics.
What you will bring
2+ years of experience as a software developer, software engineer, or similar role
Strong proficiency in the Python programming language, familiarity with frameworks like Flask and SQLAlchemy is a plus
Expertise in using Git for version control
Experience with Linux administration and a solid understanding of the Linux operating system
Cloud operations experience using at least one of the Cloud infrastructures AWS, GCP, Azure & IBM Cloud and FinOps principles, including cost optimization strategies, tagging, cleanup, reporting and strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills
Fluent English written and verbal communication skills
The following are considered a plus:
Experience in front-end development, with expertise in React or similar frameworks.
Proven background managing large-scale infrastructure and cloud environments with tools like OpenShift/Kubernetes, Podam/Docker, Terraform, Jenkins/ProwCI and Foreman.
