We are seeking a lady or gentlemen with the ability to provide the finest guest dining experience and train the restaurant service teams in wine knowledge and service. In-depth wine education and certification/diploma in hospitality is essential with years of experience in food & beverage in a high-end restaurant/hotel. Fine dining restaurant sommelier experience preferred. The Food & Beverage Sommelier will monitor inventory of wine cellar, ensuring appropriate quality and quantity, and proper storage and disposal of wines, create and update wine lists for outlets or restaurants, order and keep inventory of specialty wine equipment, meet with wine distributors and purveyors to ensure positive vendor relationships, and utilize suggestive up-selling techniques while pairing and suggesting wines that will best complement each particular food menu item.

Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles. Answer guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines. Update and maintain wine list and MICROS system. Pair and suggest wines that will best complement menu items. Attend wine tastings and develop relationships with vendors. Request new wines and products. Create and update wine lists. Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs. Monitor and replenish inventory of wine cellar, equipment, and glassware. Train and educate server and bartender staff. Conduct vintage and BIN number checks. Conduct staff wine tastings. Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas. Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly. Maintain accurate spill sheet.

Requirements of the ideal candidate include:

  • In-depth wine knowledge

  • Sommelier Certification/diploma is essential

  • Must have good computer skills to update and maintain wine list and POS system.

  • Familiar with decanting wines appropriately to the wine type.

  • Have knowledge of specialty wine equipment and glassware.

  • Excellent guest service and communication skills

  • Be willing to attend wine tastings and training sessions to continue self-education and development.

  • Be willing to work inside and outside under various weather conditions

  • Be flexible with schedule, be able to work on weekends and holidays
