Job Title: Remote Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer will develop design specifications, create and mature design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings and design documentation. This position requires interfacing with Business Project Managers, Technical Project Engineers, sourcing teams, equipment manufacturers, and engineering teams to ensure high-quality deliverables meet customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
Develop design specifications and mature design concepts.
Provide procurement support and generate design documentation.
Execute analysis, design, test, or integration for reactor internal components.
Perform engineering hand calculations and modeling.
Develop designs for mechanical components and equipment.
Assess causality and risk.
Prepare and present technical data to internal customers.
Lead and facilitate open dialogue in a matrixed team environment.
Ensure product designs meet application and design requirements.
Provide technical support through sourcing for fabricator assessment and interfaces.
Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology advantages.
Participate and lead teams addressing organizational initiatives.
Essential Skills
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.
7+ years of experience in design activities within fabrication or manufacturing industries.
Experience with Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-ups.
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor CAD or similar tools.
Strong testing experience and CAD skills.
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional team collaboration.
Knowledge of ASME/AWS codes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience analyzing and solving moderately complex design problems.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Proficiency with ANSYS FEA analysis.
Experience in BWR or PWR industry preferred.
Work Environment
The position is fully remote and involves heavy research and development activities. The role includes significant cross-functional communication, particularly with the fabricator group, to discuss manufacturability and ensure clearances and access for inspection and maintenance are considered.

Pay Rate: $55-$65/hr.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
