Position Summary: As part of the Maintenance team, this position performs all necessary repairs and preventative maintenance as directed by the Chief Engineer to maintain a safe, attractive, and efficiently-operated hotel. This role also supports housekeeping personnel in general cleaning and sanitation, preventative maintenance, general repairs, projects, and tasks while exceeding the highest quality standards. Must be knowledgeable of all building systems and sanitation and safety standards, including emergency systems. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian Order. Duties and Responsibilities: Under complete supervision must be capable of learning to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair, as required, all building systems, equipment and fixtures consistent with manufacturer's guidelines, design parameters, and accepted practices. a. Under complete supervision must be capable of learning to inspect buildings and roofs. b. Under complete supervision must be capable of learning to maintain, make operational repairs and perform preventative maintenance tasks for commercial-type building systems, materials, equipment and fixtures. c. Under complete supervision must be capable of learning to operate and keep in good wor ing order a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, mobile electronic devices, measuring/diagnostic/testing meters and instruments. d. Must be capable of learning to coordinate repairs with other trades, offices and departments affected by all operations. e. Must be capable of learning to perform various carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning work as required

PART IV: NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Less Critical Duties etc.) a. Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned b. Coordinating visits of service providers and contractors as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Formal Education: High School or

GED required. **Specific Job Knowledge:** Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the Inn building and major mechanical and utility systems. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and Federal, State and Local Laws with an understanding of how they impact plant operations. Knowledge of all aspects of operations and building systems. Read, interpret, and follow architectural and general engineering drawings, schematics and specifications as well as manufacturers' installation and maintenance documentation. **Minimum Work Experience:** One-year previous hotel (or like) experience preferred, but not required. **Work Skills:** Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with standard computer applications required.

Preferred Qualifications:  

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Equipment Knowledge: Knowledge of facility major mechanical systems,

HVAC, and plumbing systems is required. **Working Conditions/Environment:** a.Tools, machinery and equipment used: Manual and powered tools, ability to drive truck, PC b. Environmental conditions: (any unusual/adverse conditions such as exposure to chemicals, noise, illumination, air quality, weather exposure etc.) Exposure to noise, confined spaces, dust, and dirt. c. Physical requirements: (items such as lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time, manual dexterity, walking etc.) Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach and to lift up to 60 pounds.
