WSP is seeking a Junior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) consultant to join our BC Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate would work closely with our established team of scientists and engineers providing WSP’s service offering for EHS management and compliance projects within BC and across Canada as well as raise the profile and building the brand of WSP’s EHS Management and Compliance Group.

  • Performing environmental compliance audits, hazardous substances and chemical inventory assessments, and other similar EHS assignments.

  • Data analysis and technical reporting;

  • Interacting and collaborating with internal and external clients;

  • Providing EHS compliance program support for clients including developing procedures and permits;

  • Assisting with the development ISO 14001 and other environmental management system programs or components;

  • Providing technical excellence in management system and compliance auditing, management systems development and implementation projects, assessment and controls, emergency preparedness and response planning, pollution prevention planning and due diligence, as appropriate;

  • Providing support for other WSP services including Environmental Management, Engineering and Infrastructure business lines.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering within a relevant field (Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar scientific discipline);

  • 3-5 years or more of relevant professional technical experience;

  • Eligible for professional designation (e.g., P.ENG, R.P. Bio, PAg);

  • Progressing towards a designation as a Certified Auditor (e.g. EP (CEA), EP(EMSLA));

  • Strong field survey skills and experience, including design and implementation of field programs and logistics, equipment usage, and health and safety protocols;

  • Project management experience an asset;

  • Demonstrated understanding of federal and provincial/territorial environmental legislation and regulations;

  • Ability to acquire Reliability Clearance for working on federal government projects;

  • Available for business travel and extended working hours as may be required;

  • Excellent work ethic with strong organization and time management skills;

  • Strong team player - ability to work with all levels of an organization;

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $62 600 - $106 400

WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to the specific geographic location.
