Staples SPP Merchandise Specialist - Temporary 18 Month Assignment (Hybrid) in Vaughan, Ontario

What you’ll be doing:

As a Merchandiser you will be responsible for collaborating with Account Service Leads to creating product strategy and produce collections of branded merchandise. You will also be working closely with vendor partners to secure pricing, provide product solutions based on the project scope and answering any product related questions. You will be working closely with multiple departments including Account Service Leads, Program Specialist, Account Service Coordinators, Graphics and Purchasing Teams.

  • Review category and product movement while utilizes the data and retail trends to drive merchandising recommendations.

  • Source and recommend merchandise solutions, including decoration/embellishment/custom artwork as required, and provide this merchandise selection within timing of critical path.

  • Continually source new and exciting products and imprinting techniques.

  • Continually look for opportunities to consolidate spend and increase profitability, including negotiating pricing with suppliers as required.

  • Manage the internal spreadsheet, containing all product details and pricing breakdown for any given program.

  • Obtain/document vendor pricing for client presentation and for program duration.

  • Control and maintain margins within set guidelines by program.

  • Be our customers’ brand advocate – responsible for ensuring products meet customer brand guidelines.

  • Produce accurate and creative copy writing describing products featured in programs.

  • Present merchandise selections to clients – be able to speak to why products were selected and relate to customer objectives, as well as our research & analysis.

  • Remain current on preferred and industry supplier products and services.

What you bring to the table:

  • You are bilingual in English and French

  • You have an ability to be creative, problem-solve and innovate.

  • You are knowledgeable on decoration processes

  • You are detail-oriented, have strong organizational skills and can prioritize, multi-task and work under tight deadlines.

  • You are results-driven, always striving to meet/exceed goals.

  • You are collaborative in nature, able to participate positively in a team atmosphere

  • Strong PC skills – primarily Word, Excel and PPT.

  • High level of creativity

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications:

What’s needed- Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/French)

  • Minimum 2+ Years relevant work experience in product marketing, merchandising or related field.

  • Travel required as necessary.
