Washington State Job Bank Maintenance Specialist 5 in Vancouver, Washington
Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Maintenance Specialist 5 position to support the Facilities Services department. The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday from 7:00 am -- 3:30 pm in-person.

- Develop preliminary cost estimates for installations, upgrades and repairs for Public Work Requests relating to capital projects.
- Assist in the development of the maintenance budget.
- Ensures that preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities is in place.
- Maintain records on work performed; write reports as required.
- Reviews work orders, trades work and performance, projects, and discusses progress and any problems with the Director of Facilities Services.
- Collaborate with project managers to coordinate engineering functions with construction and maintenance activities.
- Work with outside agencies regarding college business.
- Manage maintenance budget and purchases related to the maintenance department.
- Supervise maintenance employees; approve leave requests and timesheets.
- Select, train, and evaluate maintenance professionals.
- Develop plans, cost estimates, and material specifications.
- May assist and operate vehicles and equipment in snow removal process during winter months.
- Facilitate weekly maintenance meeting with maintenance trades and other management within Facilities team.
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints and sketches.
- Develop methods to repair and maintenance problems.
- Lead and instruct maintenance trades daily;
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) as required.
- Review, write and schedule work orders and maintenance requests for all crafts and balance manpower requirements with manpower availability.
- Track work orders to ensure the work is being performed and completed to work standards.
- Communicate professionally with campus customers and follow up on departmental inquiries and complaints related to maintenance area and effect remedial actions and timely project completions.
- Attend meetings and conferences to represent Facilities Services and the Director as needed.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations.
Perform related duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
- Five (5) years of work experience in physical plant operations.

The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
