A Brief Summary of This Position
The Brake Press Operator is an individual contributor position where this individual has the opportunity to work independently to help support the organization’s goals and mission. A qualified candidate will understand proper modes for calibration and set up, check material thickness and first part and cycle machine before production run. This individual will be capable of calibrating with each setup of dies and ram. They will understand dies and numbers on dies and setup. A qualified candidate should be capable of identifying what top dies goes with bottom die and how to calculate included angels, material thickness to bend angle and program brake press correctly. This individual will have the opportunity to make shafts, shrouds and structural channel to prescribed specifications. This position is responsible for miscellaneous routine machine maintenance and will have the opportunity to assist helpers when needed. This position is active, which involves standing throughout the entire shift and occasionally operating grinders and lifting tools that can weigh up to 50 lbs. Operators will also receive opportunity to run the flip tack jig. A qualified candidate will pass an A- welder test and have the opportunity to learn how to put together 3 piece poles using the 3 piece jig. This person will also have the opportunity to run a 15 ton overhead crane and a 30 ton overhead crane.
Essential Functions:
Will adhere to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
Knowledge of Valmont’s quality procedures, standards, and practices
Possess acceptable work history and attendance record
Familiarized in operator’s maintenance of the equipment
Read and interpret blueprints
Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the production environment
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds maximum on an occasional basis
Ability to learn and operate the 30 ton magnetic crane
Ability to pass a forklift test and drive forklifts
Important Details about the Role
Learn IFS and our machine operating program
Develop a working knowledge and proper use of dies, punches, backstop and gauging fixtures
Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
Setup, operate and perform general maintenance of equipment
Accurately read and use a tape measure, compass, micrometer, mag. Level, protractor, versa gauge, and caliper
Ability to operate the basic functions of a personal computer
This position reports into the Large Pole Production Supervisor
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Demonstrate the ability to physically perform the requirements of the task assigned
Must read and decipher blue prints and flat sheets without assistance
Must Program and re-set the CNC Press Brake, troubleshoot operating malfunctions
Must be able to pass FCAW and GMAW 2G certification along with visual and MT test
Highly Qualified Candidates
One year of previous experience operating a hydraulic press
One year of previous experience programming machinery
A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and IFS
One year of previous experience working in a Manufacturing environment
One year of previous experience operating a forklift
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
