Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs Administrative Support Assistant (OA) in Valentine, Arizona

Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of the Superintendent, Truxton Canon Agency in Valentine, Arizona. The incumbent will assist in managing the day-to-day administrative support functions associated with the operation of the Superintendent's office. Responsibilities The incumbent, in coordination with the Administrative Manager, assists in managing the day to day administrative support functions associated with the operation of the Superintendent's office. Additionally, the incumbent provides information, guidance and advice regarding timekeeping, correspondence, procurement, travel, cost accounting, files, and records management systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants who meet at least one of the following requirements may qualify for the position at the GS-5 level - One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level obtained in either the public or private sector performing clerical work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing and verifying documents; maintaining office records; and locating and compiling data or information from files and other data sources. Four years of education above the high school level. A combination of education and specialized experience listed above totaling 100%. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable as a substitute for specialized experience. Applicants who meet the following requirement may qualify for the position at the GS-6 level - One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level obtained in either the public or private sector creating a variety of correspondence in proper formats using word processing programs; routing official correspondence; managing calendars and meeting schedules for management; providing administrative support such as answering telephone calls and greeting visitors; serving as a point-of-contact for an office; & performing data entry into an automated timekeeping system. Applicants who meet the following requirement may qualify for the position at the GS-7 level - One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level obtained in either the public or private sector performing specialized office tasks including making travel arrangements for executive staff; compiling information from a variety of sources to prepare reports for executive staff; preparing supply requisitions according to established rules; & providing direct support and technical assistance to branch managers, supervisors, and staff in departments such as finance, human resources, procurement, property and supply, and Indian self-determination. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Education As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions in the GS-0303 series; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
