General Surgery Residency Program Coordinator - Full Time - Days
Department: RESIDENCY - GENERAL SURGERY
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Manager, or designee, the Residency Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration of day-to-day operations and ensures compliance with the requirements of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and other regulatory bodies. The Program Coordinator acts as the central coordinator between Program Director(s), faculty, residents, the clinical practice, other institutional departments, and regulatory authorities.
Core Job Responsibilities
Create the residents’ daily educational activity schedules (creating the master schedule, call schedule, clinic schedule, rotation schedule, didactic schedule, home visits, etc) while staying in compliance with work hour requirements from ACGME and NYSDOH.
Create and coordinate the faculty’s didactic schedule
Analyze the resident’s work schedule to ensure compliance with the NYSDOH work hour requirements
Complete and submit the Center for Medicaid’s report to the Director of Finance for financial reimbursement.
Collaborate with the Program Director and the GME Manager with executing objectives for the Residency Program and Medical Education Department.
Develop processes, forms, and reports in the residency management suite software
Compile and analyze resident performance reports for presentation to the Clinical Competency Committee in accordance with accreditation requirements.
Implement the program’s quality improvement plan, complete the annual program evaluation, and develop action plans. Ensure that the clinical experience and education received accurately reflects program aims, goals, objectives and strategies.
Coordinate all aspects of resident recruitment and the interview process.
Assist the Director of Population Health with grant funding opportunities.
Recommend purchases and ensure budget compliance with policies, procedures and department goals
Collaborate with the Program Director in completing all required reports for accrediting agencies.
Collaborate with the Medical Education Manager with developing new policies.
Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration or related field
One year experience in Health Care Administration
PREFERRED:
Master of Science in Health Care Administration or related field
One year experience in Medical Education
Licensure/Certification Requirements
PREFERRED:
- Certification in Training Administrators for Graduate Medical Education
