Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director for Transfer Services, the Academic Records Specialist/Transfer Credit Evaluator will review and evaluate undergraduate and graduate coursework for credit to ensure compliance with Utica University policies and procedures and AACRAO best practices. This position will be responsible for the evaluation of transfer credit for all undergraduate student populations newly admitted to Utica University.

Major Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors, providing initial triage, distribution of information & resource referral for all walk-in, telephone, mail, email contacts. Facilitates resolution of problems.

  • Provides evaluations of transfer credit for all matriculated transfer students.

  • Completes timely & accurate credit evaluations following institution requirements and quality standards.

  • Manages and processes requests for permission to study, enrollment verification and deferments, address and name changes, and grade mailers.

  • Takes an active role in the development of the department’s strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership. Works closely with department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.

  • Minimum of one year office experience is required.

  • Experience with the evaluation of transfer credit, transfer admissions or academic advising and university policy is preferred.

Minimum Skills/Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of policies and procedures regarding transfer credit.

  • In-depth knowledge of the American Council of Education (ACE), & American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) best practices.

  • Ability to develop and maintain in-depth familiarity with the university undergraduate catalog and apply policy to specific tasks.

  • Ability to be a team player in a busy office.

  • A strong commitment to diversity and work continually to enhance diversity of our students, faculty, and staff.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new systems quickly.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours if necessary.
