JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Human Resources (https://hr.psu.edu) is seeking an Academic Talent Acquisition Specialist who will be a trusted partner on the academic hiring process. The role will focus on supporting units and search committees on the job posting, advertising, visa, background check and hire processes.

The Academic Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Become a trusted partner to assigned unit(s) and provide academic hiring process consultation.

  • Perform job posting validation to ensure it meets the requirements needed to ensure a successful hire.

  • Provide advertising recommendations and ensure they meet requirements.

  • Provide policy and procedure support for conducting fair and equitable academic searches.

  • Manage assigned unit job requisitions from a strategic process perspective and ensure candidates are being dispositioned timely.

  • Coordinate with Global Programs on the immigration process for new hires.

  • Generate non-tenure offer letters.

  • Submit and manage the background check & clearance process.

  • Process hires.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Knowledge of academic appointments including tenure, non-tenure and post-doctoral preferred.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.

  • Effective communication skills, including consultative skills with the ability to understand the needs and urgency of a customer base.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of broad concepts, policies and procedures related to human resources and the talent acquisition processes.

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Ability to develop trusted relationships with peers, hiring managers, and prospective applicants.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite and SharePoint.

  • Ability to run reports and utilize Excel to track data.

Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree plus one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
