JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Campus Recreation is seeking Penn State students to fill the position of Facility Supervisor at Stone Valley Recreation Area.

Facility Supervisors are responsible for supervising Facility Attendants and Lead Facility Attendants. Shifts may include overnight hours when overnight facilities are rented. In addition to performing the tasks of a Lead Facility Attendant, the Facility Supervisor helps ensure policies and procedures for Campus Recreation facilities are enforced in a fair and consistent manner. Main functions of this position include: Assisting with staff training; Patrolling rental areas (cabins, lodges, pavilions, etc.); Facilitating late check-in and early check-out; and responding to on-site emergencies. Facility Supervisors must attend monthly staff meetings. Facility Supervisors must be Penn State students and have a minimum of one season’s experience as a Facility Attendant or two semester’s experience working for Campus Recreation and strong leadership skills. They are self-starters who possess the ability to respond appropriately to situations without the immediate availability of a supervisor. Must be a team player, willing to cover or trade shifts when necessary. Work hours vary including days, evenings, overnight, and weekends. CPR/First Aid/AED certification required or ability to obtain within one month of hire. Classes are offered through Campus Recreation on a regular basis. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and have access to a reliable form of transportation. Positions are mostly seasonal in nature with the primary hours available from mid-March through mid-November. We build your work schedule around your class schedule.

Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellbeing, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the Intramural Building, the McCoy Natatorium, the 700-acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts, the White Building, Outdoor Adventures, Aquatic Programs, Fitness and Wellbeing Programs, Club Sports, and Intramural Sports.
