The Strategy & Operations team at Focus Features plays a key role in optimizing business decisions and driving continuous improvement across the organization. The team is a key business partner to the Chairman Focus Features, Focus Feature’s senior leadership team, and broader NBCUniversal executive leadership.

The Strategy & Operations team seeks a passionate candidate to join our group, with a specific focus on film investment decision support. Specific projects will include assisting in the film financial modeling process, market research, data analysis, and assisting on various ad hoc analytical projects to support strategic planning. The role will report to the Manager, Strategy & Operations and will work closely with the Vice President, Strategy & Operations.

Responsibilities

Film Financial Modeling

  • Assist Manager, Strategy & Operations in preparing financial models related to film acquisition, film financing, production, and distribution

  • Prepare supplemental analysis in support of film investment decisions

  • Update and maintain all relevant financial modeling tools used by team, including revenue and cost estimating tools

Film Greenlighting

  • Prepare consolidated summary of financial assumptions, target performance, sensitivity analyses, and other relevant KPIs for newly acquired or produced films

  • Partner with various distribution teams across NBCUniversal to gather relevant information included in summary documents

  • Assist in the preparation of post-release film performance assessment (i.e., actual film performance vs. greenlight assumptions)

Business Development / Ad Hoc Analysis

  • Assist with new business ideation and supporting analysis

  • Assist in building presentations which articulate clear and concise analysis and conclusions for business development and ad hoc projects

  • Collect and collate data necessary for business development and ad hoc analysis

Other

  • Update and maintain internal data sources leveraged by team, including Focus and comparable film performance data

  • Assist in building regular industry updates, competitor benchmarking, and other related presentations for executive team

  • Regularly update and distribute team meeting agendas and other project status

  • Bachelor’s Degree; ideally in economics, finance, accounting, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience in finance, strategic planning, management consulting, or investment banking; ideally in the media & entertainment industry

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
