    Join Gleason Automation Systems to set-up and test the robotic, machine tool tending, automation systems that we build in Rochester, NY.

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Electro/Mechanical Test/Debug and qualification of the machine

  • Test/Debug PLC, HMI and Robot software and programs

  • Modify existing PLC, HMI and Robot software programs for new machine requirements.

  • Provide technical support for Customer and Field Service Personnel

  • Manage tasks and project deliverables in accordance with project schedule.

  • Collaborate with Hardware Controls Engineers on electrical component selection and design.

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers on designing solutions using Robot simulation software.

  • Continuous improvement of PLC, HMI and/or Robot programs.

  • Hold or acquire a combination of certifications from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, Kuka, Denso, Cognex and Keyence (other controls and robot manufactures may apply)

  • Perform other tasks as needed.

    Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Experience with PLC, HMI and Robot programming for Industrial Automation Equipment.

  • Experience with automation equipment (e.g., sensors, pneumatic controls, servo motion controls)

  • Proficiency with networking communications (e.g., Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, ProfiBus)

  • Ability to work with engineers and other disciplines to relay technical information and effectively contribute in meetings/discussions/brainstorming sessions

  • Strong electro/mechanical aptitude

  • Must be able to work productively within a team environment.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Proven ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize simultaneous tasks.

    Preferred Education/Training/Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree (AAS) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with emphasis on PLC, HMI, Robot programming and Industrial Automation Equipment or equivalent work experience.

  • Level I requires up to 5 years of directly related experience

  • Level II requires more than 5 years of directly related experience, the ability to perform all associated tasks, and the ability to train others

    Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    Travel Requirements:

  • 10%
