Your role and responsibilities

As an IBM Storage Brand Technical Specialist, you'll work closely with clients to develop relationships, understand their needs, earn their trust and show them how IBM's industry leading solutions will solve their problems while delivering value to their business. You will be the Solution and subject matter expert responsible for driving the client technical agenda, account architecture, and technical sales support of IBM Storage Brand products in the Federal Market. Accountable for driving client satisfaction such that clients become promoters of the IBM platform. Maintain a strong customer base by offering knowledge and articulating the value proposition/ROI, competitive landscape, and relevant use cases to drive sales. Apply technical and sales knowledge to create and deliver technical proof points to assist with deal closure.

  • Storage Strategy Creation: Creating client strategies for storage solutions.

  • Enhanced Storage Solutions: Defining IBM storage options to improve existing technology.

  • Proof of Concept Delivery: Providing proofs of concept and simplifying technical topics for client understanding.

  • Complex Deal Closure: Building trust to successfully close complex deals.

  • Opportunity Identification: Working within assigned territory to identify unique opportunities.

Required technical and professional expertise

Skills:

  • File, Block and Object Storage expertise.

  • Defining storage architectures and infrastructure to requirements.

Environment:

Professional knowledge of function and operations of the Federal Government. Understand organizational resources, priorities, needs and policies.

Communication/Negotiation:

Ability to adapt communications style and approaches to conclude negotiations with various level of business, from CIO to Business Partners, resulting in common agreements.

Problem Solving:

Analyze complex/new situations, anticipate potential problems and future trends, assess opportunities, impacts, and risks. Develop and implement solutions.

Contribution/Leadership:

Influence people and organizations, including executive management, when issues are complex/difficult and require considerable diplomacy. Considerable latitude in responsibilities to define and decide on tools, processes, priorities and resources following general business unit directives. Be recognized as an expert in your field.

Impact on Business/Scope:

Activities are subject to business measurements, impact customer satisfaction, and impact functional, business unit, or country costs or expenses.

Location:

Must be located (or willing to relocate) to the Washington, D.C. Metro area.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Prior Federal Government Agency experience, contacts and access is preferred.
