Applied Research Associates, Inc. Senior Engineer 2 in Tyndall AFB, Florida

Description

The Engineering Science Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Senior Engineer 2 to join our Aircraft Operating Surfaces (AOS) team at Tyndall AFB, FL.

As a Senior Engineer 2, you will serve as a subject matter expert in one or more areas related to structures, pavements, maintenance, materials, and/or geotechnical engineering. You will use various analytical, scientific, and engineering methods to execute research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) and technical projects including:

  • Applied bench-level research

  • Advanced technology development

  • Prototype/pilot scale systems design, construction, and evaluation in field demonstrations and operationally relevant environments

  • Testing, evaluation, and initial fielding of materials, technologies, and processes in Air Force operations

  • Improve operations & maintenance (O&M) capabilities through insertion of alternative pavements, materials, technologies, processes and procedures

Inherent to performing work addressing these projects are requirements for technical expertise in experimental and test design, laboratory and field analysis, quality control, scale up and prototype design and operation, system/process evaluation, technology transition, technical writing, and use and maintenance of scientific and engineering equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.

Senior Engineer 2 Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 10-12 years of experience, or master's degree with 8-10 years of experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Experience in an engineering research environment with pavement materials, testing, and construction emphasis.

  • Knowledge of pavement analysis and design, testing, material QC/QA, mix design, specifications, pavement supporting materials (geotech), and construction processes is required, whether obtained via coursework or practical experience.

  • Experience preparing formal reports and presentations.

  • Highly skilled at analytical and computational tasks.

  • Highly proficient interpretation, writing, communication, and presentation abilities.
