Position Overview:
Responsibilities include electrical troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of plant production machinery, support equipment, building, and other systems. The Electrician also assists with related upgrades, improvements, and assigned projects as required.
Key Job Duties:
Receives and performs job assignments, PM schedules, written or verbal instructions Follow National Electrical Code and other applicable codes and regulations on work performed Emergency requests for repairs/replacements Uses a variety of measuring and testing equipment to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems of facility building and equipment Uses a wide range of shop, hand, and power tools common to the various trades applied Maintains specified records, logs and system readings as required Read, interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications and operating manuals Document work completed Operate scissor lift Other tasks as assigned
Experience/Skills Requirements:
Knowledge of the Electrical Codes and National Safety Codes as they apply to the work being performed Knowledge of three-phase electricity and up to 480V draws Knowledge of the hazards associated with working with electricity and high-voltage electrical equipment Skill to use specialized and general electrical equipment and tools depending upon the position Troubleshoot intricate electrical equipment, boxes, and lines Interpret and comprehend complex blueprints, written diagrams, and technical manuals Basic hand, shop and power tools and a range of test and measuring equipment Read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals, schematics and drawings Conduct various tests to systems and must know and apply appropriate regulations and standards Experience in the printing and converting industries Must be able to perform work above ground level EG work on Scissor lift with safety straps and climb ladders to perform various duties Work with up to 480 volts high amperage electrical installation Use various shop machinery to perform duties
Physical Demands:
Work requires physical abilities such as extended periods of standing and walking in the production facility, and some occasional lifting of heavy items, ability to work in dark and or tight spaces Use of ladders and elevated walkways or scissor lifts required Work in various weather and environmental conditions with exposure to noise, dust, solvents, electrical energy, uneven surfaces, heights above ground level, with moving objects
Work Environment:
Standard industrial type environment. Exposed to typical plant and outside environment with periodic exposure to inclement weather, noise, oil, grease, and chemical odors to some extent. Exposed to electricity, compressed air systems, hydraulics, propane, and chemicals that require proper safety precautions. May be exposed to noise levels/duration such that we require the use of hearing protection. Occasional contact with chemicals that would require proper PPE to be worn.
Education Requirements:
Minimum requirement High school graduate Some college or vocational schooling preferred Any certifications held in relation to maintenance fields is a plus
