Description

The OT Network & Security Engineer’s core responsibility is securing the infrastructure, systems, and network for all related data, network, and systems within manufacturing Operations and Business networks. The secondary responsibility will be the monitoring, management, and support of all servers and network that is in the OT framework ensuring proper methods and guidelines are followed to protect material handling systems and all internal data. This is a consulting opportunity on-site/hybrid role in Pittsburgh.

Responsibilities

Asset inventory of hardware & software and assessing those assets for security vulnerabilities, obsolescence, and other risks. The assets will include industrial control systems like SCADA, MES, PLCs, HMIs, standard computers, servers including virtual machines and material handling systems.

Review of network architectures and determining if good practices are being followed and provided recommendations to comply with applicable cybersecurity framework for industrial environment controls.

Collaborate with MSP on leveraging existing utilities to provide best in class protection and real time monitoring of the OT and IT networks

Responsible for the review of security policies, plans, and procedures; assessing network monitoring capabilities; analyzing system logs, security events, and packet captures to identify security threats; and providing recommendations to comply with applicable cybersecurity framework

Assess administrative, technical, and physical security controls and provide recommendations to mitigate the identified security risks

Perform vulnerability and risk assessments within manufacturing and critical infrastructure environments to identify security risks and threats (e.g., unsecure remote access points, suspicious remote connections, unauthorized devices on the network, etc.) and providing recommendation to remediate the identified issues

Create and maintain detailed network diagrams of the manufacturing industrial infrastructure, network, server, cabling, rack level, and logical architecture including procedures and plans to support current and future projects.

Create a disaster recovery plan for the manufacturing environment including preventive steps to minimized downtime and support business continuity.

Work hand in hand with Manufacturing Automation Engineers on their requirements for expanding the production line.

Oversee the monitoring, maintenance including patch management of all applicable systems, appliances and devices within the OT infrastructure which includes the SCADA system. This includes the staging, readiness, and deployment of required installs.

The point of contact for all potential security issues and concerns, assists in the implementation of security policies and procedures, user log-on and authentication rules, security breach escalation procedures, and prepares status reports on security matters to aid in the development of security risk analyses and incident response procedures

Travel to different sites as required.

Perform firewall architecture, administration, and development of network security model in accordance with industry best practices and approved compliance standards, such as (NERC).

Participate in future expansion planning and provide OT infrastructure oversight for expanded or new facilities.

Requirements

  • Understanding of cybersecurity framework (e.g. NIST)

  • understanding of NERC CIP Standards

  • Experience in data management

  • Knowledge of industrial controls systems

  • Knowledge of data design principles

  • Exceptional networking skills and knowledge of overall server environment methodology

  • Can communicate appropriately and effectively.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent technical experience/certification required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of networking experience.

  • 5+ years’ experience in IT Networking & Security type role with intermediate experience in systems and networking methodologies
