As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for accurately interpreting and verifying orders, compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, and monitoring drug therapy regimens. You will provide medication information to healthcare staff and patients, interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issues, and document clinical activities and interventions. You will also sustain the hospital formulary, supervise pharmacy technicians, and participate in disaster team drills. Additionally, you will prioritize work to comply with facility medication turnaround time policies, participate in staff meetings and development, and support the training and mentorship of new staff members. You will also serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students or residents, support quality improvement and patient safety programs, and maintain professional competency and controlled substance records. Compliance with all regulatory standards and making appropriate medication recommendations is essential.
Responsibilities
Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately in the pharmacy computer system.
Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.
Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.
Effectively and proactively interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issues.
Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.
Sustain the hospital formulary and minimize non-formulary procurements.
Supervise and assist pharmacy technicians and other support staff.
Train and participate in Disaster Team drills and real-event responses.
Prioritize work and lead others to comply with facility medication turnaround time policies.
Actively participate in staff meetings and attend staff development sessions.
Support the training and mentorship of new staff members.
Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents.
Support and participate in the organization's quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety programs.
Maintain professional competency to meet the needs of the facility.
Maintain appropriate controlled substance records.
Comply with all regulatory standards.
Make evidence-based, patient-centered medication recommendations.
Participate in the management of medical emergencies, including Code Blue.
Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
Suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.
Work with the Pharmacy Director or Operations Manager to develop processes that meet regulatory standards and participate in quality and regulatory reviews and audits.
Essential Skills
B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy
1 year of inpatient/hospital pharmacy experience
BLS certification (required within 90 days of hire)
ACLS certification (required for attending Code Blue)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy (preferred)
1 year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience (preferred)
Work Environment
This position involves working the day shift from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotating weekends. Depending on candidate needs, hours may be adjusted to 9 AM to 5:30 PM or 10 AM to 6:30 PM. The hospital is a 180-bed full-service facility providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services using state-of-the-art technology. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
