Job Summary:
The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering Directorate consists of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and Modeling and Simulation disciplines for Effectors. In the GNC department, we design, integrate, and optimize guidance, navigation, state estimation, and control algorithms to meet mission objectives. We support new business initiatives and help develop & execute technology roadmaps.
The GNC Department is seeking a Principal Engineer to perform in the role of GNC System Performance SME for Integration / HWIL at our Tucson, AZ location.
This position is an onsite role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
As a System Performance SME for Air Dominance, you are viewed as a seasoned professional contributor, having advanced to expert knowledge on air-to-air systems within Air Dominance Portfolio.
You will work on algorithm integration activities in Tucson and China Lake HWILs.
You will support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.
You will be relied on to solve difficult and complex problems, often undefined, and you may be asked to manage moderately sized projects and/or processes.
You will be trusted to coach, review, and delegate work to earlier career professionals.
Travel is required to China Lake, CA (expected for 1 week every 4-6 weeks) depending on HWIL schedule.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior guidance, navigation and/or controls engineering experience.
Experience including at least two of the following: digital and/or modern control systems, dynamics, Kalman filter design, Monte Carlo, or signal processing.
Experience with Matlab, C, C++, and/or Object Oriented design
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in STEM. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Current DoD clearance
Experience with Unix and/or Linux operating systems
Experience with missiles, gravity bombs, or autonomous / collaborative air vehicles
Results-oriented work ethic and able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
