About being our Field Land Surveyor / Rodman

AField Land Surveyor / Rodmanis an entry-level position for a career in land surveying. Nationwide, land surveyors are in short supply and high demand. They specialize in land measurements, infrastructure staking, residential staking, topographic mapping, creation and management of precise coordinate systems and much more. As the land surveyor\'s career progresses, he/she is encouraged to obtain a state license, which authorizes the licensee to perform boundary surveys, using history, technology, and an arsenal of resources available to the public.

Responsibility Highlights for our Field Land Surveyor / Rodman

  • Be the survey party chief\'s assistant in keeping his truck supplied with marking materials
  • Help search for existing boundaries and control markers, called survey monuments
  • Perform arithmetic for and with the party chief to ensure quality control
  • Utilize and operate all types of survey instruments and equipment
  • Prepare total station, GPS base, and other supplies for daily staking tasks
  • Understand and apply proper survey procedures with Party Chief

Minimum Qualifications to be our Field Land Surveyor / Rodman

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid AZ driver\'s license and clean driving record
  • A general understanding of Geometry and mathematical principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and via two-way communication devices
  • Willingness to travel out of town for projects as this position may at times require travel to other cities or counties in AZ
  • Physically capable of working outdoors in all types of terrain and varying weather conditions for up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, walk, crawl, climb, swing, chop, dig, lift, and carry up to 80 lbs. for distances up to 100 ft. over uneven terrain
