The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Discipline consists of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and Modeling and Simulation disciplines for Effectors.

The PG&C Center is currently hiring for an Associate Director, Systems Engineering - High Speed Air Breathing (HSAB) System Performance Lead in Tucson, AZ . This position will lead all HSAB development across multiple program areas.

This critical role will be responsible to lead a cross-discipline team of engineers executing all HSAB tasks across the portfolio to ensure delivery of the missile systems per Program plans. The role requires leading a high visibility development program including frequent technical and programmatic interactions with the customer, technical community, platform and kill chain contractors and senior Raytheon leadership.

This is an onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the High-Speed Air-Breathing architecture of all products across the multiple programs and captures.

  • Lead the design of the High-Speed Air-Breathing Missiles and Projectiles via System Performance Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis.

  • Influence the architecture of the system, establishing processes, and align Raytheon program leadership, office of the chief engineer, and multiple CPTs / IPTs

  • Interact and coordinate with customer community stakeholders, including acquisition and technical groups, to influence and guide the development of programs mission requirements.

  • Lead the execution of all assigned work scope, determine the allocation of personnel within the team to perform that work, and review and approve any contract deliverables before delivery to the program stakeholders.

  • Work within agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics.

  • Support continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools.

  • Identification, establishment and implementation of best practices and lessons learned.

  • Utilize agile development methods, automation, and continuous integration.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Engineering experience in High-Speed Air-Breathing, Aerodynamics, Propulsion and GNC

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in the following high-speed missile system applications:

  • Design and development of the high-speed airbreathing missile-based architecture including system performance analysis

  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of the inlet, combustor, and nozzle

  • Modeling of Ramjet propulsion, Fuel delivery system and OTIS

  • Design and analysis of high-speed air-breathing wind tunnel, ground, and flight tests.

  • Experience with scramjet, rotating detonation engine and other propulsion technologies for high-speed missiles.

  • Experience with evaluating supersonic propulsion concept performance and operability, including cycle analysis, operability envelopes, and inlet/combustor component analysis and test data assessment.

  • Experience managing and/or leading cross-disciplined teams in a technical capacity.

  • Experience with MATLAB, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design.

  • Experience in capture and proposal development for HSAB technologies.

  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics

  • Multi-discipline engineering background with knowledge of related technologies and products specific to GNC and to the broader engineering organization (Guidance, Navigation, embedded software, RF and EO-IR seekers, Systems Engineering, and requirements flow down).

  • Experience with high-temperature materials used in high-speed propulsion systems, including fabrication techniques.

  • Experience using program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and/or Risk and Opportunity Management to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action to management.

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
