Guthrie Ultrasound Technologist - Per diem days in Troy, Pennsylvania

Position Summary: This Ultrasound need is for day shift and call 7am-9am on weekends and holidays. Performing general, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound exams. In this role, the diagnostic sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. Education, License & Cert: High school graduate with additional skills training (certification). Experience: Minimum of three months. Essential Functions: 1. Performs the scanning examination requested by the referring physician, modifying the examination, depending on the findings demonstrated, and QC and review the examination prior to sending to PACS. 2. Assists the radiologist or the clinician in special procedures such as percutaneous fluid aspiration or biopsy procedures. 3. Performs examination at the bedside using portable equipment. 4. Teaches ultrasound technique to student technologists. 5. Performs routine equipment checks for resolution and other quality control procedures, as necessary. 6. Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while getting on to scanning table, if unsafe situation occurs (such as a fire), getting patient to safety and sounding alarm. 7. Ability to work alone (on call) and get job done in an efficient manner. 8. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stop and walk in order to care for patients. Must be able to perform a stand‐pivot transfer with a 105‐pound patient. Other Duties: 1. Develops and processes permanent records of the examination. 2. Maintains an inventor of coupling agent, drugs and other supplies and requisitions supplies and materials, as needed. 3. Obtains sterile instruments, as needed, may clean and re‐sterilize them or return them to central supply for sterilization and storage. 4. Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments, as appropriate.
