What you get to do every single day

  • Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads

  • Review source documents with necessary verification

  • Payroll record maintenance by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

  • Exercise of proper data management by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data

  • Continue employee confidence in payroll operations by keeping sensitive information confidential

  • Perform other tasks as necessary

  • Organize and compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages in order to draft relevant reports

  • Using federal and state regulations and guidelines, certify company compliance

  • Understand and report necessary changes to payroll operations by maintaining established policies and procedures

  • Deliver assistance to payroll with internal and external audits

  • Put together summaries of employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to calculate all payroll liabilities

  • Manage payroll information requests and questions

  • Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities

  • Handle payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis Requirements - Accurate, swift, data entry abilities

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Prior experience working with collections/accounting software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

  • Relevant experience of 2+ years in payroll

  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • Understanding of internal controls

  • Wide ranging experience with in-house payroll

  • Proficiency in Payroll Taxes

  • Experience with Canadian Payroll

  • Well-founded grasp of ADP Financial Services

  • Multistate Payroll experience

  • Ceridian experience

  • Solid understanding of Ceridian

  • General familiarity with ADP Workforce Now

  • Proven knowledge of payroll for over 500 employees

  • Practical knowledge of Ceridian Payroll System

  • Quality experience with Full Cycle Payroll

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

  • Experience with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

  • Certified Payroll Professional designation favored
