Job Description

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute team is seeking a passionate, experienced Senior Technical Program Manager ready to tackle complex business and technical challenges through the visualization and analysis of data, in a fast-paced environment. As OCI continues to scale to demands of an ever-growing customer base and regions, we need program managers who can lead data-driven initiatives to ensure OCI continues to provide an outstanding customer experience while continuously improving the efficiency of development processes. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in the face of ambiguity and can quickly distill abstract ideas into concrete solutions, and has a proven track record of delivering complex business intelligence and reporting solutions across a highly complex environment involving multiple organizations, departments and teams.

Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Program Manager will be responsible for managing complex, business intelligence programs that impact both product and business for OCI. In addition, this specific role requires a passion for solving high-impact problems and the ability to jump into any in-flight project and get it on the rails.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Coordinate with customers and Business Analysts to determine business data reporting and analysis requirements.

  • Assist in business report generation to customers for business decision making.

  • Support Database Administrators and Developers to build data warehousing systems for business intelligence, reporting and analytics.

  • Assist in data administration, modelling and integration activities in data warehouse systems.

  • Implement business intelligence solutions to achieve data reporting and analysis goals.

  • Support the development of business intelligence standards to meet business goals.

  • Coordinate with the business units to identify new data requirements, analysis strategies and reporting mechanisms.

  • Assist in design and generation of reports in timely and accurate manner.

  • Work with the business units to improve business operations.

  • Train and guide the junior engineers in data reporting and analytical skills.

  • Recommend enhancements and modifications to optimize business intelligence processes.

  • Address business intelligence queries and issues in a timely fashion.

  • Create and execute project plans within allotted budget and timelines.

  • Maintain documentations for all business intelligence processes.

  • Design, build, and maintain automated reporting, dashboards, and deep dives to enable our team to self-service 80% of data needs, allowing you to focus on answering hard and ambiguous problems.

  • Identify, develop, manage, and execute deep dives to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will shape the future of Alexa.

  • Retrieve and process data using a broad set of Amazon’s data technologies and resources, knowing how, when, and which to use.

  • Write high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle).

  • Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy story lines that impact the business.

  • Collaborate with product, technical, business, marketing, finance, and UX leaders to gather data and metrics requirements.

  • Build scalable data solutions; data sets, views, queries, reports, dashboards, and scheduled processes.

  • Troubleshoot code, research root causes, document solutions, and communicate to all stakeholders.

  • Track reporting and production anomalies.

  • Ensure data is within required quality standards.

  • Keeps stakeholders informed about problems and resolutions. Deliver products on schedule and communicate updates regularly.

  • Identify, track, and resolve data issues, working in partnership with other Business Intelligence Engineers to ensure data is accurate, complete, delivered on-time and supports the needs of the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years relevant work experience in program and project management

  • 3-5 years of hands-on SQL experience

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering

  • The candidate must be proficient in Excel and SQL

  • Ability to effectively represent engineering perspectives to partner organizations, product teams, and executive leadership.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and Development/Engineering staff at all levels including the executive level.

  • Solid analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills with an ability to handle competing demands.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business need with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data visualization and polished communication skills.

  • Experience with cloud services, virtualization, or SaaS products

  • Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills

  • Self-driven problem solver; able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and customer-focused environment

  • Highly analytical, technically proficient, and able to learn new tools and software quickly

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) at different levels in the org

  • Experience using agile software development practices and associated tooling

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $74,100 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
