NJEDA IT Business Analyst in Trenton, New Jersey

Overview

Job Summary

Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and translating requirements from business units on various ongoing development projects. Also, translate business requirements into stories for the development team and help in delivering a successful solution.

$65,484 - $81,855

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a manager's approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The IT Business Analyst will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with business units and leaders across the EDA to define project objectives and scope and implement solutions.

  • Work as a liaison between stakeholders and Dev Team for gathering requirements and user feedback. Also assist to increase transparency and communication.

  • Understand business needs and translate into requirements/stories for the developers to design and implement.

  • Brainstorm solutions, prioritize development roadmaps, and release solutions developed by the development team.

  • Successfully deliver end products to the stakeholders while ensuring usage of those solutions.

  • Own and develop relationship with partners, working with them to optimize and enhance our integration.

  • Help design, document, and maintain system processes.

  • Report on common sources of technical issues and/or questions and make recommendations to the product team. Communicate key insights and findings to the product team.

  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to the customer.

  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.

  • Must complete annual and semiannual self-assessment as required.

  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive analysis.

  • Develop and maintain business and functional requirements documents.

  • Conduct impact assessments and feasibility studies for proposed projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business goals.

  • Assist in project management and planning activities.

  • Continuously assess and improve business analysis processes and methodologies.

  • Attend meetings with business units to align on technical specifications that will drive impact.

  • Coordinate with business units and development team to manage roadblocks, gather user feedback, and facilitate release planning.

  • Foster an open and collaborative environment to help teams learn and adapt.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in computer science or related field, and/or equivalent professional experience.

  • 5+ years of experience as a BA.

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a BA with the working knowledge of Dynamics 365 CRM and portal applications.

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in translating stakeholders needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements.

  • 3-5+ years of experience working as a liaison between the IT department and business units.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in defining project objectives, scope, and success criteria.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

    Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience.

    Certificates and Licenses Required

  • License: Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.

    Position Requirements
