City of Traverse City Civil Engineer I in Traverse City, Michigan

Under the direct supervision by the Deputy City Engineer, the Civil Engineer I work involves project responsibility for municipal engineering projects. Work involves responsibility for the application of engineering skills and knowledge to challenging engineering projects in conjunction with the design, construction, inspection, evaluation, or maintenance of public infrastructure or municipal projects. Work assignments allow for independent judgment in planning, data acquisition, and analysis or in making technical decisions and are performed under the general supervision of the City Engineer, or designated staff.

The expected hiring range is $68,358.14 - $73,226.94 DOE (the full salary range is $66,046.51 -- 86,970.64). ? Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

? Two or more years' experience in engineering, design, or inspection experience on municipal projects, additional experience using Autodesk Civil 3D and Geographic information systems (GIS) applications preferred.

Licensing and Other Requirements:

? Shall be certified by the State of Michigan to monitor Part 91 of the Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Program of the City within 90 working days of the date of hire.

? Possess and maintain a valid driver's license

? Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.

? Must reside in and maintain principal domicile within 30 miles from the nearest city limit within twelve months of hire.

Knowledge of:

? Expertise and knowledge of the principles and practices of plan review and inspection.

? Knowledgeable in the field of Civil Engineering sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

? Knowledge of Engineering principles and practices; applicable local, state and Federal statutes, rules, codes, regulations, requirements, City of Traverse City's policies and procedures, and other governing documents
