Towanda Golf Club / The Grouse Taproom and Grille Lead Bartender in Towanda, Pennsylvania
Role Description
A lead bartender/head bartender, is an experienced bartender responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a bar, including managing staff, creating new drink menus, maintaining inventory, ensuring quality of drinks, training new bartenders, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key responsibilities of a lead bartender:
- Staff Management:
Assign tasks to bartenders, monitor performance, provide feedback, and address any issues with staff. Will also be responsible for weekly schedule of staff in bar / restaurant area.
- Cocktail Creation:
Develop new drink recipes, including signature cocktails, and ensure consistency in preparation.
- Menu Development:
Design and update the bar / food menu, including pricing, descriptions, and seasonal specials.
- Inventory Control:
Manage all liquor and beverage inventory, place orders, monitor stock levels, and identify potential waste. Work with GM Adam Augustine, PGA on this specific positional responsibility.
- Training:
Train new bartenders on proper techniques, cocktail recipes, and customer service standards.
- Customer Service:
Interact with Members and Guests, take orders, provide recommendations, and address any concerns.
- Bar Operations:
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintain cleanliness of the bar / kitchen area, and manage cash transactions.
- Cost Control:
Monitor beverage costs and identify opportunities to optimize profitability.
- Special Events / Outside Tournaments and Outings:
Coordinate beverage service for private events, parties, and large gatherings.
Ensure event room is set up as requested for each event.
Required skills for our lead bartender position:
- Expert Mixology Skills: Deep knowledge of spirits, liqueurs, mixers, and the ability to create innovative cocktails.
- Leadership Abilities: Effectively manage and motivate a team of bartenders.
- Customer Service Focus: Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with Membership and Guests.
- Attention to Detail: Precise execution of recipes and maintaining high standards of presentation.
- Inventory Management: Ability to accurately track and manage inventory.
- Adaptability: Respond quickly to changing customer demands and situations.
