Torrance State Hospital is seeking a full-time Utility Plant Operator 2. The purpose of this position is to work in the powerhouse with the responsibility of skilled work in the daily operation and maintenance of steam boilers and auxiliary equipment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you are responsible for skilled work in the daily operation and maintenance of steam boilers and auxiliary equipment to produce steam to assure adequate heat and hot water for the operation of the hospital. Duties include maintaining uninterrupted hot water supply to various buildings, testing and treating boiler water, ensuring preventative maintenance work orders are completed, and maintaining accurate records to all pertinent information.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Sunday - Saturday, rotating schedule, weekends and holidays as assigned, 30 minute lunch The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement. Please check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (commonwealth title); or One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.
