Responsibilities

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced RF Calibration Technician at our Torrance, California location. Work consists of making basic adjustments in procedures and processes to solve problems. Identifies, defines, and addresses general problems that are typically within the immediate job area or team. Problems are generally solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basic analysis primarily gained through experience with machine shops for the manufacturer of parts and components. These parts/components are typically manufactured through the use of various 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machines, lathes & boring mills, presses, grinding and milling machines, etc.

  • Perform calibrations on a variety of test & measurement equipment including but not limited to electrical, RF and microwave test equipment.

  • Set up standard electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical measuring and indicating instruments and related devices to be used in calibrating and certifying the accuracy of various types of instruments and test equipment of routine complexity.

  • Use test automation platforms and software to calibrate Measurement and Test Equipment.

  • Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.

  • Solve problems related to calibration, metrology principles, and preventative maintenance techniques.

  • Identify IM&T equipment out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.

  • Determine nature and extent of malfunction, damage, defect, or wear by visual examination or by test of such items as less complex electrical, electronics, and electromechanical instruments used in test equipment, oscilloscopes, portable instruments, and digital instrumentation.

  • Disassemble and reassemble instruments and test equipment as necessary. Modifies existing instruments per modernization data of manufacturer or requirement of user.

  • Train subordinates in calibration concepts and procedures.

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3+ years of metrology experience performing various types of equipment calibration.

  • Experience calibrating inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&T) equipment in DC/Low Frequency and RF/Microwave.

  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and metrology practices is required.

  • Ability to verify power measurements of RF systems and components.

  • AC/DC calibration experience that includes verifying voltage, current and resistance measurements of test equipment and standards.

  • PC proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, etc), and Internet applications with an emphasis on Excel required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of standard calibration recall systems.

  • Understanding of Mil Standard 45662A and Quality Management system (ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ANSI Z540)

  • Experience writing and/or modifying calibration procedures.

  • Strong attention to details

  • Must be a self-motivator, work well in a team environment, and follow written procedures.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; a current or previous DOD security clearance is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Metrology experience performing RF equipment calibration preferred

  • An Associate Degree in electronics is preferred

  • Some computer programming experience would be helpful.

  • The ability to troubleshoot equipment utilizing schematics to carry out required equipment adjustments and minor repairs is preferred.
