Description
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to join a thriving healthcare facility in Torrance, California. The Medical Scheduler will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of daily scheduling activities, supporting patients, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff. This individual will be responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing provider calendars, and handling calls with care and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures using electronic medical records
Confirm, modify, or cancel patient appointments as requested and ensure communication of any changes.
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to manage calendars and optimize daily schedules.
Verify insurance information and authorizations as required for appointments
Maintain transparency with patients by providing information regarding appointment preparation, location, and expected duration.
Professionally handle patient calls, inquiries, and appointment reminders.
Resolve scheduling conflicts promptly with efficiency and tact.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; an associate’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field is a plus.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical scheduling, or other administrative roles within a clinical or hospital setting
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Cerner or Epic, is strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic insurance protocols a plus.
Demonstrated ability to interact with patients, caregivers, and healthcare staff with professionalism and empathy.
