What You'll Be Doing
You’ll be joining CIBC’s Technology Operations Team. We are on a dynamic transformational journey with clear purpose set out by the CIBC enterprise and Transformation, Infrastructure and Innovation. Our goal is to further establish ourselves as a skillful, responsive and innovative partner to our technology peers and our partners in CIBC. The Senior Consultant of Data Governance will help establish and execute on the approach by managing and delivering on key Data Governance activities, acting as a liaison between internal technology teams, internal and external Data Governance and risk partners. The scope includes supporting TO’s four Technology portfolios. The role must effectively engage with these teams to support the establishment of Enterprise and Industry best practice data governance practices, Data Governance deficiency and deviation identification and management, while providing day-to-day direction to senior leaders to help meet CIBC’s Enterprise Data Governance Policies and Standards.

How You’ll Succeed
Relationship Building - A key attribute you will have will be your ability to effectively interact and build relationships internally and externally to CIBC. You will be a point of contact for understanding and supporting the implementation of Data Governance accountabilities across TO, working with teams and risk partners when issues arise, supporting the remediation of Data Governance related deficiencies, risk issues and data governance concerns. When issues are identified, obtaining buy-in to close these issues is challenging and requires strong relationship management skills to be successful.
Data Governance Advisory - Establish, monitor, and enhance key risk indicators (KRIs) to proactively identify areas of concern. Offer technical leadership and interpret complex data governance related information. Ensure alignment with industry best practices. Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership to drive informed decision-making.
Leading and Mentoring – Support end-to-end implementation as a subject matter expert, and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology and risk professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems. Support the implementation of Data Governance initiatives as an SME.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience with: 3-4+ years in Data Governance, Management Control Environments, Risk Partners, Corporate Policies and Standards. Excellent abilities to manage stakeholders and having strong communication skills is a must. Ability to influence decision-making and risk governance strategies. You have strong abilities around analyzing and understanding data, as well as gap analysis expertise. You are proficient with Excel pivot tables, and other Microsoft office applications. You have strong problem solving skills, stakeholder management abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.
