Chemtrade Sr Category Sourcing Lead in Toronto, Ontario
Scope of Position
The Category Sourcing Lead - Indirect Spend is responsible for the sourcing of certain indirect materials, items, and services as assigned by the Manager, Corporate Procurement. The individual will ensure the continuous supply of these items at the lowest possible cost while managing the related operational risk.
What you need to be successful
An undergraduate degree in a technical or business discipline, and 2+ years’ experience in a Purchasing role; or +5 years of experience in a similar role.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and have the ability to summarize data and thoughts and communicate them succinctly.
Candidate must possess organizational skills and the ability to identify and focus on key issues.
Experience with SAP/ERP system is preferred.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Self-starter, able to drive multiple works to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of people at various levels within the company.
What you’ll be doing
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Manage high level materials management plans and related processes for all indirect purchasing at the site operational levels with an aim to create and leverage economies of scale
Responsible for inbound procured catalogues from designated suppliers to Chemtrade plants and all related processes such as coordination of volume transportation, inventory control and invoice payment terms.
Research and identify opportunities to create scale for indirect, plant-level consumable purchases using available data and historical information.
Create and leverage SAP reporting capabilities to generate data reports on buying patterns and trends to build business cases to demonstrate value of consolidated buying decisions and scale values, monitor supplier performance, cost controls, etc.
Solicit bid proposals, review the bids and award the business based on price, quality and reliability.
Influence plant-level buying decision-makers using data, collaboration and influence to drive common solutions and approaches to problems and opportunities.
Monitor shipments with plant personnel to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems determine alternate supply from alternative suppliers
Confer with manufacturing and other groups off-spec products and determine corrective action.
Maintain and review data of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories.
Manage accurateness of PO’s both those generated directly or by plant. Make sure that SAP contracts are updated timely with proper prices.
Process purchase orders and/or blanket orders and order needed material to meet operational standards
Assist with reconciling invoices and receiving transaction discrepancies
Communicates and determines scheduling with suppliers for pricing, order fulfillment and delivery. resolves problems
Determine and maintain pricing. Review price lists and update database.
Review and evaluate quotations. Research, identify and recommend potential suppliers. Issue purchase requisitions within authorized limits and schedule deliveries. Follows up on orders.
Contact vendors to correct discrepancies with quantity and quality for orders.
