TEKsystems Senior Manager, Underwriting in Toronto, Ontario
Description:
TEKsystems client is adding a Senior Manager, Underwriting to their Payments Solutions Team.
This is a growing 6 person team primarily responsible for shadow underwriting ISO merchant applications, conducting due diligence on potential new clients and partners, preparing risk reviews for submissions to management, and managing/ mitigating the ongoing credit risk of issuing, acquiring, and DE (Digital Enablement) client portfolios.
About the Role:
Manage existing credit-related policies and processes and assist with the development of future ones
Support escalations within underwriting and third-party reviews - Acquiring (Credit Card Merchants), Prepaid Issuing and Digital Enablement (Payment services)
Lead the Payments Underwriting team responsible for new client underwriting, annual reviews and new service requests while ensuring the team meets response SLAs.
Prepare required risk reports for leadership; identifying possible exposures that need to be mitigated.
Lead event reviews and risk assessments
Support with credit-related policies and processes and assist with the development of future ones
Act as subject matter expert and provide credit risk-related education to partners and internal teams
Review of new partner documents to ensure compliance and alignment with PTC policies.
Responsible for the shadow underwriting of acquiring ISO merchants and approving within delegated authority limit
Responsible for specific client underwriting and onboarding, and preparing risk reports for approval by management
Responsible for ensuring merchant acquiring ISOs and issuing and DE clients are providing items they are responsible for such as periodic reviews, updating policies and procedures, etc.
Liaise with other teams such as Sales, Compliance, Fraud, Operations, and Product to develop and ensure alignment with the process and work closely to accomplish tasks
Cross-trained to provide backup coverage for Senior Underwriting staff.
Remain current on the latest developments within the industry and market trends to secure a competitive advantage
Establish and maintain relationships with merchant ISO partners and issuing and DE Clients, provide World Class Service as it aligns with our vision
As needed, assist in Ad hoc Reporting, research and Analysis.
As needed, assist with event review and risk assessment
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Post Secondary Education
5-7 + years’ Experience in commercial lending underwriting, due diligence, credit adjudication or credit risk analysis
3+ years experience as a Manager within commercial lending, or commercial underwriting
Proven experience working with credit risk, and financial and transactional data to discern trends, and provide recommendations (Financial statement analysis)
Strong written and verbal communication.
Well-versed in MS Suite including intermediate to advanced Excel.
