The opportunity

CBC Sports is looking for a creative digital content creator who lives and breathes social media and wants to be on the cutting edge of social tools, trends, and best practices.

You love a wide range of sports and enjoy engaging with the athletic community and want to merge those loves with social media. You have a deep knowledge of high-performance and Olympic sports and its athletes.

The Digital Associate Producer will be joining a highly collaborative team and will be responsible for designing, editing, and packaging timely, engaging and shareable graphic, video and written social content both pre-Olympic Games and during the Milano/Cortina Olympic Games.

Your responsibilities

With direction from both the Senior Producer and Producers, you will participate in the ideation, development, and execution of social content across CBC Olympics social properties.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about working the Olympics, who is plugged into breaking news and is interested in developing ways to communicate and engage with different social audiences. That means staying in tune with social and cultural dialogues and committing to treating individuals and communities fairly through the content we produce and the way we produce it.

We’re also looking for someone with a background in design, who speaks the language of social and can independently keep on top of multiple rollout schedules and creative tasks. Understanding of grammar and attention to detail on spelling is a must. Social media is an exciting and changing field, and we want you to bring your creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving and resourcefulness to this role to help keep CBC Olympics on the cutting edge of social trends.

Key tasks:

  • Packages and posts social content in a creative way on multiple platforms.

  • Creates original and compelling social media content.

  • Creating and executing creative briefs under the direction of Producers.

  • Assists in developing multi-platform digital content including graphic design, writing, researching, and/or editing.

  • Following brand guidelines to execute content.

  • Design creative elements for partner projects under the direction of Producers.

  • Plans, creates and maintains social content calendars.

  • Supports creation of content and conducts or arranges for any necessary research and assembles the various elements for publication on CBC platforms.

  • Packaging content for distribution.

  • Uploading and applying metadata and tagging of content in content management systems.

  • Delivers relevant content for social media on multiple platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube

  • Collaborating with different departments to receive and deliver assets.

  • Adheres to best practices for maximizing shareability of content.

  • Collaborates on social media strategies with content and social partners.

  • Evaluates content performance and makes adjustments based on metrics.

  • Keeping Producers updated on project progress.

  • Ensures proper copyright clearance of material used on social media.

  • Identifies, develops and maintains social contacts to further amplify content.

  • Connects with colleagues to maintain open lines of communication.

  • Double checks work to maintain a high CBC standard of content.

What you bring:

  • Two to five years of experience in communication design.

  • Two years of professional social media or social media marketing experience.

  • Creative and passionate idea generator — you’re always coming up with new things to try.

  • Organized and detail-oriented.

  • Strong Adobe Suite skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects & Premiere Pro).

  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and Facebook.

  • Understanding of social media stats, data and analytics and using them to inform decisions.

  • A commitment to finding diverse, non-traditional voices;

  • Intercultural competencies with a focus on connecting with and growing new audiences;

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns, processes and methods. Time management and efficient multi-tasking skills are a must.

  • A strong, adaptable writer with copy-editing skills.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and keep to tight deadlines.

  • Independent and self-motivated.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • An excellent communicator.

  • An understanding of the CBC, including the relationships and tone, would be an asset.
