The AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program trains mature workers while they update their skills. This is a great opportunity in a friendly Bloomsburg non-profit to train for a new job as a custodian.

Those who are 55 years of age and older who find themselves unemployed and are having difficulty obtaining employment.  If you have submitted resumes and applications and the phone never rings, or you have reviewed the Help Wanted jobs and you don't seem to fit the criteria, our program may be for you!  We have a training program to prepare you for employment...and you will get a training stipend of $7.25 an hour while you train.  20 hours per week.  We would love to help you get back in the workforce.

Positions include but are not limited to: Shelf Stocker, Administrative-Clerical. Custodian-Building Maintenance. Customer Service Representative.

There are some important qualifications that you must meet.  Please do not respond to this ad unless you are:

55 years of age or older, meet income guidelines and must be UNEMPLOYED.  YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES TO BE ELIGIBLE: Bradford, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Monroe, Montour, Pike, Potter, Susquehanna, and Wayne.     

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is the nation's oldest program to help low-income, unemployed individuals aged 55  and older to find work. 

AARP Foundation first matches eligible older job seekers with local nonprofits and public agencies so they can increase skills and build self-confidence, while earning a modest income.  Based on their employment interests and goals.  Participants may also receive supportive services and skills training through an educational institution.
